Author Guidelines

The Author warrants that the Manuscript is original and has not been published before in its current or substantially similar form by another publisher, or under consideration for publication by another publisher.

African Languages Press (ALP) is concerned with the elementary rules in ethics of publication and is therefore supporting the law on intellectual property. Every person publishing in ALP (author, reviewer, guest editor) must accept and respect intellectual property and avoid plagiarism.

Structure of the books: 

Book length

  • Poetry, shortstories etc: 100 pages Max
  • Childrens Book: 16 pages Max
  • Novels, Memoirs, autobiographies: 200 pages Max (including notes and bibliography)
  • Titles and paragraphs
  • The text needs to be typed with Word software
    • Font Times New Roman
    • Format 12, Single Line spacing
  • NO LAYOUT
  • Do not have ANY layout (with the exception of quotations*): the articles will be directly formatted by the Editorial team and the in-house editor according to our specific program, therefore all previous styling increases the amount of work
  • *Quotations: - verbal quotation (interviews): in Italics
  • Your BOOK should be arranged in the following order: Name or Names of author(s) after the mention AUTHOR(S) = followed by Author’s 1st name and Name, genre, language, email address

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another press for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in the Microsoft Word, RTF, or OpenDocument file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Press.
